Planting the Post!

Planting the Post!

Although I may have left Fengersfors, I am pleased to say the Unicorn Union lives on!  Wednesday marked our first planting of a Unicorn Union post marking a special site. We chose Knarrbysjön lake as our first location because so many people selected it as their special spot, and because of its accessibility. This is the first of several spots to be marked over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out!

  1. I think the work and the project that Alexia Mellor did with us who live in Fengersfors was really good and so interesting and it was so much fun to be part of this project, to choose a favourite place where I live. Well I couldn’t decide which place to pick, so I picked two, two spots that are really close to eachother.
A couple of weeks after I met Alexia and she had been working on the project for a little while I thought of a photoproject that I did many years ago, in 1999, that is really similar to this project. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it at once when I heard about this project, but it was years ago I did it so maybe that’s why. I grew up in Åmål, 20 kilometers from Fengersfors, and when I graduated from The photoschool in Gothenburg I returned to my hometown and asked people who also are from Åmål to choose their favourite place. I took a portrait of the person in black and white at the place and I took a photo of the place that the person had chosen. I photographed about 20 people in the same manner.
I’m looking forward to see how the Unicorn Union-project will develop in Fengersfors, so exciting.
